Interim Medical Partnership Building ready for first MCG/UGA Medical Partnership Students
Renovations are complete at the historic building where the first class of students at the Medical College of Georgia/University of Georgia Medical Partnership will be educated. The Interim Medical Partnership Building, at 279 Williams Street in Athens, is one block from the main UGA Campus. Originally constructed in 1857 as the Athens Cotton and Wool Factory, the 37,000 square-foot building has been renovated to include small-group classrooms, lecture halls, a medical library, student lounge, gross anatomy lab and faculty office space. Extensive landscaping has created a terraced green space with shade trees at the entrance of the building, and a deck at the rear of the building overlooks the North Oconee River.

AMAZING STUDENT: Alyssa Anderson
Senior Alyssa Anderson did not know she was going to become a medical doctor until she got to UGA. After she began volunteering as the check-in coordinator at Mercy Health Center, a local health clinic for people without medical insurance, she realized her calling in life. She is an Honors student who has traveled and studied in South America, and she even secured a backstage pass to Cirque du Soleil in Buenos Aires by doing a good deed for a stranger! Anderson is an instructor at UGA's Challenge Course and a test preparation instructor for the Princeton Review. She enjoys both jobs because they allow her to do show her students that they can do more than they imagine. After graduation, Anderson hopes to attend medical school.
